Rejection is a way of life. No matter which way, it enters our life with a bang, and it is a feeling that is indescribable. Unfortunately, rejection can come from all angles. Whether it is a rejection letter from a university, or a rejection of an invitation to dinner, it all means one thing--no. As human beings, we do not like to be told no, yet it helps to shape us into the people who we are today. Even though it is extremely discouraging, we need to pick ourselves up and move on. Life will still go on whether you go to your number one school or not. Life will still go on wether or not you are published on your first try or on your twentieth try. Perseverance is key here, and I personally think that a lot of people forget that.
Getting a rejecting letter from a publishing company is not the end of the world. I know it is going to hurt and I know it is going to make you angry. It can either make you or break you. You can work your hardest to prove these publishers wrong, or you can give up. It all depends on how much it means to you. I personally know that I do not handle rejection well. Any kind of rejection. So I know if I was in the situation that I would probably walk away from my piece of writing that I am trying to get published for a while. Who knows how long, but I do know that I will eventually find motivation to work on it again. It may not be the one that I send in again to get published, but writing is an outlet for me. I enjoy it way too much just to let a rejection make me stop doing it.
